Ikaya Drum
is offering
a unique product in Romania: workshops of drum therapy. Drumming
is a great way to relax, to have fun and to connect with others.
The
aim of Ikhaya Drum
is to use rhythm-based events to bring people together and to create a
positive outlet for creativity, energy and self-expression. Drumming is
a very accessible activity and even a group of beginners can create an
up-lifting rhythm in a matter of minutes. One of our basic needs as
human beings is to be heard and connect with others; participating in a
drum circle is a perfect way to achieve this. In a drum circle it
doesn’t matter what age, race or religion you are, everybody
communicates using the language of rhythm. When a group of people are
drumming together, even if they’ve never met before, barriers
are broken down and differences transcended.
These
drumming workshops provided by
Ikhaya Drum work around the
theme of raising one's vibration by pounding away at a djembe
or a variety of different African drums. The facilitators of
these workshops will guide you in the basics of drumming –
and then as a group you will make a unified sound. Using African
Djembes and handheld percussion, students of all ages and standards can
explore spectacular African styles of drumming, to perform a variety of
styles and rhythms. Working in groups the students can develop team
skills, musical awareness, and history of rhythm, concentration skills
and focus.
The
workshops are organized every Friday from 18,30 - 20 pm in Tandarica
Theatre, Studio Hall. The standard format is as follows:
-
